George Atsametakis is a full time freelance photographer, based in Athens - Greece.
He has been interested in photography for the last thirty five years. His favorite subjects are people, events, sports, scenery and nature, although I can deal with a quite wide range of subjects.
He regularly contributing columns and photographs to several Greek magazines, including "PhotoNet", "PhotoNet Professional", "Camper & Travel", "MBike", "Runner"
He is also the chief technical editor for "PhotoNet" magazine and he tests the majority of new photographic equipment, including digital cameras, lenses, printers etc.
His pictures are being published in many other magazines and newspapers, domestic and international, through the picture agency "IML Image Group".

On this tour you will follow the footsteps of everyday people and their cultures through the centuries. We will stroll by small white-washed houses built amidst the rocks beneath the gaze of the Acropolis.
The narrow meandering steep streets and steps, stone walls and gardens filled with flowers give the impression of being on a Greek island. You will see the tower of the winds, a weather vane, a sundial, and a hydraulic clock housed in an octagonal tower built by the astronomer Andronicus, the Roman Agora, the remains of Hadrian’s Library built in 132 AD seen at a distance, and Fethiye Djami – Mosque of the conqueror, considered one of the oldest and finest Ottoman monuments in Athens.
You will learn how to work with light and shadows, color and forms in a creative way, how to use photographic techniques to advantage and how to be ready to take great photos any time you go out with your camera.

Starting at the pedestrian area of Apostolou Pavlou street, which unites the major archaeological sites of Athens we follow in the steps of Hadrian to see where he attended the inauguration of the Temple of Olympian Zeus. We wind our way past Roman ruins, mosques, temples and the homes of the Greek Gods of Olympus. En route you will see the 3000 year old Theatres which premiered the plays of Sophocles and Euripides and that are still in use today.
You will have superb vantage points from the sacred Hill of Philopappou (Hills of the Muses) to photograph the Acropolis and then on to Plaka and past the magically lit restaurants scattered all over the hillside.
